A Hat For Lily

June 3, 2010

We have a new addition to our extended family. A new niece on my husband’s side. She is only 3 weeks old and very cute.

I am currently a bit overwhelmed with work on various projects; but wanted to welcome Lily into the family by giving her something hand made. I thought hats are always useful for babies and took the opportunity of having a long weekend to design and knit one for Lily.

Without any measurement, I thought of implementing a chain stitched cord around the hat to make it a little adjustable. It is mostly knitted in organic cotton (I had the pink yarn and think is a cotton blend).  The front bears Lily’s name in Farsi alphabet. And of course, I had to embellish it a bit. So, I crocheted a few petals and sewed them on top of the hat.

I am quite happy with how Lily’s hat  turned out and love the softness of the yarn.

To Lily, with my warmest wishes for a great start in life…
