Recently, one of the Living Amused readers traveled along with his friend through Spain, Portugal and Morocco. They seemed to enjoy their trip a lot.

Here is what he wrote to me upon his return:

“Dear Halleh,

Hi. I have to tell you that your advice on planning made the trip!  The places you mentioned & the inside secrets that you gave us were totally the highlights.  I just don’t know how to thank you.  There were some changes that we had to make to your itinerary simply because my friend wanted to see some different things and also because of the flight cancellations and delays in Madrid airport & what not…but anyway, we had such a blast…and guess what, we even made it to Portugal & stayed there 3 days as well.  We were in Morocco for 6 days, which was more than enough!! any longer & I would’ve gone a little crazy.  But it was truly a fascinating place… Seville is my favorite city in all of Europe…it’s so charming!  Anyway, I’ll talk to you soon & I’ll be sending you a whole lotta pictures next week. : )

Amir”

Thank you, Amir. I truly enjoyed seeing your photos and reading about your adventures. One by one, my own images of these beautiful places have been playing back in my mind and I often catch myself faintly smiling in contentment. I do miss being away from home.

    Dear Living Amused fan,
It was an absolute privilege for me to be able to go on this trip with one of my friends. The Portugal/Spain/Morocco trio is definitely one of my recommendations and something you can easily achieve during a 2-3 week vacation. Certainly, the pictures above neither do justice to the actual experience at these exotic locations nor do they account for the smells, tastes, and sounds of their respective cultures. Visiting the Sahara was truly a unique experience. These photos were taken from the Western part of the desert, close to the border between Morocco and Algeria. Being in the desert for 3-4 days was definitely a surreal experience. Especially, the silence of the desert is something one can learn so much from and can actually be somewhat therapeutic to the senses. One can feel completely detached from the outside world in such a secluded environment. If you’re interested in visiting the Sahara during a trip to Morocco, you can find several touring companies or desert guides in either Fes or Marrakesh who are willing to provide you with amazing deals (e.g. $250 per person) for a 3 day trip to the desert with all services included. For planning a trip to Morocco itself or Spain/Portugal, please refer to several posts on Livingamused.com for information with superb detail. Thank you and I wish you all the best.

Truly beautiful photos. The desert scences are especially great but my personal favorite is the old shepherd with his flock. Thank you for sharing.
