It seems I have pretty much given up on my garden this summer. Not that I don’t like gardening anymore; just been too busy to get out there and attend to it. Sometimes, early in the morning as I walk around the garden, I make mental notes of “gardening tasks” and tell myself, “this weekend I will take care of them”. Well “this weekend” has not arrived in a while for me. I think my last good day of gardening was back in May. Luckily, my husband has stepped into my shoes and is taking total control of the garden.
He is out there almost every weekend and on some afternoons, digging, weeding, planting, watering and lovingly taking care of our garden. It is such a pleasure to see Soehil so relaxed, in his torn jeans and old long sleeve shirt working his magic in the garden. Hurricane Shaboo (our dog)keeps him company. They both seem to delight in messing around with plants and trees. One grows them, the other one knocks them down and makes a green bed to lie down on for herself.
I have crowned Soheil the “Master Gardener”. Of course every Master needs subjects and at least an assistant or two. Cesar is our part time help and comes around once in a while to help with more heavy duty garden work. But, Soheil has a new apprentice, my niece.
A couple of weeks ago, Roya spent an entire day working with my husband planting seeds and flowers and spreading mulch while giving Shaboo lots of love and attention.
What was I doing? Beside working on the blog, knitting and house cleaning, I prepared lunch (my signature tuna salad), hydrated them with tall, cold glasses of Sharbat-e Sekanjebin and took lots of pictures.
It was a good day.
