Finally enjoying the outdoors and had to fly all the way to San Francisco for that! As my husband has advised me; this happens to be the coolest area in the States at around 64F.Lovely!
We took the early flight, arrived before noon, rented a car and in about an hour found ourselves amongst the famous vineyards of Northern Sonoma County. We are staying at the cozy Farmhouse Inn located in Forestville (Russian Valley). After an informative and pleasant check in; we drove to the Korbel Winery (10 min.) And had a quick lunch which we enjoyed with a glass of champagne (it was past 6pm Eastern Std. Time after all). Then we drove the winding and mostly car-less Westside Drive North Easterly toward Healdsburg, stopping en route at C. Donatiello Winery. The grounds are beautiful and guess what: the new owner is from our State, the notorious and often misunderstood Garden State. After a pleasant wine tasting session and some chit chat; we drove another 15 minutes to Healdsburg. We strolled around a bit (much needed) and sat for a while at the cute town Square. Had to have some coffee to “re-awaken” ourselves.
Now, back at our Inn, we need to make another key decision: What to have for dinner?
