I am writing this short post from the airport. I will be travelling with my husband to Germany, Budapest and Krakow.
Germany is one of my favourite destinations. I think this would be my 5th or 6th trip there and I always look forward to going back. Although, I am big on using public transportation on most of my travels; in Germany I prefer driving. With exception of sightseeing in major towns and walking the many pedestrian-only zones, Germany is best discovered on wheels. It is never safer to drive at over 180 km/hr (while the next car on your left shoots ahead like a bullet at over 220 km) anywhere else but here.
while my husband is on business, I am usually found driving up and down the Fairytale Road. It is one of the most beautiful countryside scene you ever see. Picturesque narrow and winding roads snaking around the Wasser river from North-Central Germany toward Frankfurt and so many old and pristine little towns to walk in while breathing fresh air and inhaling Bratwursts and beers… I can’t wait!
I always plan to see a new corner of Germany in each trip. This time we planned on spending a couple of days in Berlin. I have a feeling it would remind me a bit of the Red Square in Moscow.
Budapest has been on my wish list for a few years now and a little planning has turned it into reality. I am very excited to discover this gem of the Eastern Europe on foot and perhaps visit one of its world famous thermal baths.
I literally squeezed in Krakow into our itinierary. It is so close to Berlin (a short flight away) that could not be overlooked. We will only have 2 days there but with some organization and “feet on steroid”; we should be able to make the best of our time there.
so, for the next couple of weeks, I will be giving you regular travel updates as well as daily pictures of my travels. As Kramer in Seinfeld says while pointing to his head: “up here, I am already there”!
