The Day Before Thanksgiving

November 24, 2010

No matter how well and far in advance I prepare myself for Thanksgiving, the day before is challenging and super busy. My wings (husband) usually takes care of most items on the shopping list. My time on this fine day is spent on washing and ironing table cloths and napkins, adding final touches to decorations, arranging flowers and table settings, wrapping up the last gifts for our infamous “love it/hate it” game and kids’ care/entertainment packages. I also make the doughs for my pies/pastries and let them rest nicely in the fridge. My sisters and best friend bring over the turkey and most of the sides. My cooking contribution often consists of the Persian dish and perhaps an appetizer or a side.

This year, I am especially running behind schedule on well- all the above. But I still have a day and a half to put everything in order. And truthfully, who needs schedules?

Our today’s pretty artwork is by Arman, done when he was only a tiny 1 year old cute boy. The turkey is the outline of his hand.
