2001> We only had a few days in December of 2001 to get away. So we took on the 9 hours drive north to Quebec City, Canada. As we entered the city on Christmas Eve, snow was softly falling on the old stone pavers. Deserted streets decorated in Holiday lights, no cars in sight and a pretty horse carriage parked by the curb; it was a picture perfect White Christmas scene.

2002> We headed for Italy. This time, we flew into Palermo, Sicily and drove to the beautiful Taormina. Next stops were Sorrento/Capri/Naples and Rome. Sicily was refreshingly different and slow paced. The steep drive up to reach Taormina, with the Mediterranean Sea on one side and the cliffs on the other, was unforgettable as were the views from Taormina. Mount Etna was still emitting ash from an eruption starting in the late October. Amalfi Coast was as easy and peaceful and we spent the New Year’s Eve in Rome…can never get tired of the Eternal City-
