Early Spring and late Fall gardens are equally beautiful and precious to me. I love the way the garden looks alive yet is open -not so crowded- during both seasons. The big difference between Spring and Fall gardens is that the latter seems lazily enjoying itself; while the former is anxious to burst out of its skin. Sort of like us- 50ish vs. 20ish perhaps?
One of the best morning activities for me is to walk around the backyard and plan for next or this year’s garden; whatever the case may be, “should I move that one over here…I think we need more roses…can never have enough heathers…that is the perfect spot for a new lavender garden…I am so planting pumpkins this year…
We have been blessed with a lengthy and pretty Autumn this year. Flowers are still blooming including the delicate yet hardy cyclamens and the heavenly lavenders, the pepper patches are still bearing peppers, herbs are still looking fresh and green and all others are coloring themselves in fantastic shades of rich reds, golden yellows, copperish rusts and sunset oranges.
